My website is down, once I figure out all the technical stuff I have to figure out, I’ll get the site backup and running. Of course, it isn’t as easy as I had hoped, so bear with me.

Saturday!!
Good Saturday morning everyone!
It’s absolutely gorgeous here today! It was about 64 degrees overnight and the air is cool and dry. Lily and I are going to do some dirty yard work while Diane goes to the mall.
My website…www.vincebelcher.com… has completed its transfer to my new server. That’s why it isn’t working on your computer. I’ll get it reposted later today and everything should be back to normal no later than Sunday AM.
Have a good Saturday!

Yes, it continues in Lakeland….
Officer killed, manhunt continues
All the way from my old stompin’ grounds in Lakeland, Florida. A massive manhunt underway, an officer and his dog shot and killed, another officer shot and in the hospital. As of 4pm, there were 4 schools, loaded with kids, still under lockdown. I think they are just now, at 8pm, figuring out a way to get the schools emptied and get everyone home while they scour the area.

What generation are you?
This is from USA Today and includes a broad definition we use for current generational titles…
Baby boomers…born 1946-1964… Doting parents who have earned the term “helicopter parents” for possibly meddling too much in the lives of their older children, particularly after their college age years. They get along well with their offspring and often try to spare their kids the pain of failure.
Generation X…born early-mid 1960 through late 70’s, early 80’s… Protective and concerned about societal influences, particulary because many were latchkey kids left at home while parents (often divorced) worked. They want to spend more time with their kids than their parents spent with them. Dads are very hands-on and arrange work schedules to be involved in day-to-day parenting. They take great pride in family stability and also are proud of the fact that many mothers opt to stay home.
Millennials…born early 80’s through 2000 (or later)… Their good relationships with their own parents amay lead millennials to move back home with their kids to form multi generational households, especially early on when they may need financial help. They embrace technology and allow their kids more computer and TV time. They are likely to pull back from the overscheduling of their youth so lives are more balanced. They may allow their children more freedom to be creative and less tied to structured activities.

Local news
One of the big news stories in the Tampa area this week has been a Sheriff’s investigation of a local “adult” club. It probably isn’t much different than any other investigation going on in dozens of other communities around the country, this one, however, has a few folks all worked up.
This particular investigation lasted two years. The undercover officers spent $6400 on bar tabs and 92 lap dances, all the while earning their regular salaries.
$6400, 92 lap dances…for 6 arrests. Six arrests.
They said applications for employment at the Sheriff’s office are up 37%.

**ORIGINAL COMMENT NOW CENSORED**
NFL.com – NFL Stats
I had a friendly little chat with a certain Dallas Cowboy fan that I know. Ok, this person is not just a Cowboy fan, he is a Terrell Owens lover. Even that sounds like an understatement given this persons passion for the Great T.O., it’s almost unhealthy…if you know what I mean.
And, to further fuel my fire, he decided to call when my poor Bucs are 0-3 and their quarterback is on the DL for being an organ donor.
So, I submit the following link to the top 30 receivers. I’m sure Mr. Owens must be #31 and just missed the list…right? Wrong. I looked – he’s #52!
That having been said….To Cowboy Fan: Good to hear from you, don’t wait six months to call again.

New and improved!
There are certain things in life you can always count on, literally. One is that Scott toilet paper will have 1000 sheets on the roll and will last a lot longer than its ever-shrinking competitors.
Scott recently released a “Now Improved!” version of the product saying in an ad that it is an “improved long-lasting value.” “Now with a new soft-textured pattern — and long-lasting convenience.”
What they didn’t boast about was this:
*Note: Each of the 1000 sheets is now 3.7 inches instead of the old 4.0 inches long, thus making each roll 300 inches shorter.
Toilet paper, like many products is periodically downsized. You get a little bit less, and typically the package stays the same as does the selling price. It is a clever way to pass on a price increase, since you are paying more per ounce, pound, foot, or whatever.
Thousand sheet toilet paper started out by having sheets that were typically 4.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches long. The length was shortened a bit to 4.4 inches and then to 4.0 inches. With Scott going to 3.7 inches, the other brands are sure to follow. The net result is that 8/10ths of an inch has been shaved from each sheet over the years. That means each roll is 800 inches shorter.
Some improvement.
Fast-food fans clueless about calories – Diet & Nutrition – MSNBC.com
I don’t care if “fast food fans are clueless”. But what gets me is the “fast food fans” who eat as these places and then complain, even a little bit, about their weight.
If you are fat, don’t eat there. If you have a cough, don’t smoke. If you’re an actor, shut up and act.

Simms may miss rest of season after surgery – NFL – MSNBC.com
I, personally, believe all the bad things happening in the NFL right now are because we aren’t playing Fantasy!
By the way, over the last several months, I’ve been receiving mail saying that I’ve moved up on the waiting list for season tickets. Apparently, I’m far enough up on the list that they keep warning me…”Get your money ready”. Now, for the second season in a row, we’ve lost a QB and, at 0-3, the playoffs are looking doubtful (although we made them in 1982 after an 0-3 start), so maybe I’ll get season tickets after all!

Beach
It’s really nice at the beach today. Not a cloud in the sky and hardly anyone on the beach. We have noone within about 1000 yards of us. Nice waves, just a slight breeze to keep us cool. Lily loves it, Diane is laid out in the sun.

The pool has cooled down just a bit…now about 83 degrees. Should warm back up after all the sun we’ve had. She’s still in the pool daily and really likes playing in there by herself. Here is a short video of her swimming.
Lunch today
I’m actually having lunch out today with someone. But I just wanted to let you know today is a bad day to rob the Cheddar’s in Brandon. Looks like the Sheriff’s office is having a luncheon here today and there at least 50 armed officers and SWAT here. Just FYI.
Web site
I’ve been going over some stats provided by my ISP on the traffic to my website ( www.vincebelcher.com ).
For the period Sept. 15-Sept. 21, I had 203 different visitors. I had visits from Poland and Germany all the way to Seattle and Anchorage. Most of the cities that are listed, I recognize who it is, however, the Germany and Poland entries really surprised me!
Since January 1st, 2006, my page has over 27,000 hits. Yes, many of those are duplicates, anytime you hit refresh, I think it adds a hit. But still….27,000!!
It was suggested once to me that a webpage or blog is a waste of time. The funny thing is, that person went to my site more than once a day last week!

I Pity the Fool
I’m a HUGE fan of TVLand…Three’s Company, The Munsters, and especially Bonanza. I’ve seen the plug for Mr T’s new show and, initially, I thought it’d be a good one. I mean, the only person I like more than George Michael is Mr. T. Then I watched the trailer on the website. If he isn’t careful, Mr. T is going to come off like a black Richard Simmons.
