Sixteen days to Christmas

Pancakes this morning for those of you keeping track.  Lily and I had a “discussion” while making them.  Seems she forgot we added an egg AND vanilla.  We got everything straightenend out when I said I must have read the directions wrong.   It’s been a beautiful day – from sunrise to sunset.  Very mild – not quite opening the windows, but nice nonetheless.

We hit the town today.  We were at the mall by 9:30 and out of there by 10:30.  We made a quick stop at Toys R Us and Best Buy.  Made it out of both of those places relatively unscathed.  We decided to stop for lunch and make a run to the other side of town.  I can’t tell you where or what we did on account of “seasonal restrictions” – if you know what I mean.  Lily and Leo fell asleep on the way home.

At home, we cleaned up a bit and we all took a short, one hour rest.  We put up the tree which had been sitting outside in water since last night.  We got a nice tree, decent price – too bad checkout at Lowe’s was so terrible.  My goodness, I don’t know what is happening to that place.   Who puts up a tent filled with 200 trees and staffs it with one person on one of the last Friday’s before Christmas?  One person to help with the stack of trees, trim, bag and tie.

Anyways, I had a special moment watching Diane, Lily and Leo working on the Christmas decorations.  It was just a perfect little scene.  Hard to describe without sappy music playing and fuzzy lighting.  Suffice to say, it was my favorite moment of the Christmas season.

Both Lily and Leo have a bit of a sniffle tonight.  Lily’s really isn’t anything to speak of, and Leo’s very likely is due to the vaccinations he had yesterday.  He’s not quite himself tonight.  I’m not looking forward to tonight – that’s for sure.  He was up around 3am this morning and didn’t really settle down until after 6.  Just in time for Lily to get up.  She played nice and quite in the loft for an hour – so I got a little sleep then.

We took a walk around the block to see the lights, had dinner and bathed.  We’ve taped Frosty the Snowman so Lily is getting a little Christmas TV tonight before bed.  She only slept for a short while in the car this afternoon, so hopefully she’ll be quick to go down tonight.

Not much planned for tomorrow.  We have some cleaning still to do and I think (if the noses quit running) we are going over to some friends house for some BBQ.
