I’ve worked my butt off today.
I did the grocery shopping. Fixed some shelves in Leo’s room (cheap plastic anchors – I’ll never use those again). Cleaned up the porch. Smoked four slabs of ribs and a chicken. I also fixed the electricity running out to Lily’s play house that had been cut by the edger. I put some touch up paint on the walls inside. I hung a clock outside on the porch, cleaned out and filled the bird feeders and bird baths. My hands are bloodied and full of splinters. The thorn in my foot has swollen so that it feels like I’m walking on a golf ball. I’m pretty beat.
Leo is asleep and Lily is getting there. Lily helped me almost every step of my day. There wasn’t anything she didn’t help with. Yesterday, I pulled up a half dozen hibiscus plants that had died in the freeze a couple of weeks ago and planted new ones. After I dug a hole, Lily was right there in it – digging around in the bottom of the hole which was 10 or 12 inches deep. I’d drop a plant in and move on to dig another hole. When I walked over to get the plant to put in that hole – there she was – right there digging in the bottom of the hole. Eventually, I got all 6 plants put in and started to clean up the pots and small piles of dirt. Lily vigorously protected a small pile she had made. Upon closer inspection, I saw what the pile was. She had been collecting all of the earth worms from the holes I was digging and she must have had 30 wigglers in a pile.
Lots to do tomorrow. Monday’s are always kind of busy. Leo has his 6 month checkup at 10am.
I’m going to sit back and enjoy the last half of the game – night night.
